I have a son, aged just 12, he has had one year and half a month of a constant and disabling headache, which has caused severe phonophobia, weak legs, black out and vomiting, having been tried on every drug and down to only two morning a week at school, he went onto oral magnesium this has made a huge difference, although it did cause a stomach upset.... so now a transdermal oil. His school attendance is up, and although this awful headache has not gone, it is for periods of time diminished. This combined with melatonin from his consultant, as he was waking up to 12 times a night due to the pain. All this combined with meditation, fresh air, fantastic diet all the usual things.

I did not try the Migralex as I didn't think I could tolerate that much aspirin! I just take Tylenol, Verapamil, 500 magnesium daily, and oxygen if necessary. I am chronic. (I passed a bottle along to a migraine sufferer).
A doctor suggested the magnesium as there is so much muscle contraction and pain in the neck and shoulder muscles - and it helps. I kind of slacked off for awhile and noticed the difference.
So others that may not tolerate aspirin - or that much - might do well with the magnesium. 1,000 mg. was suggested to me, but a little tummy upset goes with that much (laxative effect) so 500 is my tolerance level.
Worth a try! Inexpensive, over the counter and I notice a big difference in muscle tension.
THANK YOU DR. SEWELL - YOU ARE THE BEST!
Congratulations on your new position, fiancee' and house!
